Maintaining your cat's health
Skin and coat
Not only is it a pleasure to stroke your cats velvety coat a soft and shiny coat is the mirror of your cats inner good health. To keep it beautiful and gleaming, grooming, parasite control and quality nutrition are important. Fur is 95% protein and one third of the daily protein intake is needed for hair alone. Essential fatty acids and special omega-3s from fish oil help to keep the skin supple and moist and make the hair shine.
Digestion
Even if cats spend almost 2/3 of their time sleeping, their metabolism remains very active, as when they are awake they burn up large amounts of calories in short bursts of hunting or playing. Cats are carnivores and therefore need food that is rich in high quality animal protein and fat. A small amount of good dietary fibre, such as beet pulp, will help keep their digestive system regular and healthy.
Dental
It is estimated that up to 75% of cats have dental problems which if left untreated could affect their general health. Oral hygiene should be part of a cats health care programme. As well as visiting the vet regularly and tooth brushing at home, a crunchy dry kibble diet helps keep her teeth clean.
